This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from Pjbassbooks.com (the “Site”).

 

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT:

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers, email address, and phone number.  We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

INFORMATION TO RESPOND TO YOUR REQUEST:
You may give us information such as your email address so we can send you newsletters and other communications you request. Details of how you can opt-out of receiving any communications from us are at the bottom of every email correspondence to unsubscribe.

WE COLLECT SUCH NON-PERSONAL AND PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:

  • To provide and operate the Services;

  • To provide our Users with ongoing customer assistance and technical support;

  • To be able to contact our Visitors and Users with general or personalized service-related notices and promotional messages;

  • To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred Non-personal Information, which we or our business partners may use to provide and improve our respective services;

CONTENT YOU POST ON THE SITE:
The blog posting sections of the Site give you an opportunity to voluntarily provide us with information regarding your opinions and reviews. In addition, the content you post and recommendations you make may provide information about your beliefs to us. If you choose to post such information, you acknowledge and agree that such information will be viewable by us and other users of the Site.

Our company is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases, and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall. 

All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

 

MOBILE INFORMATION:
We may collect additional information from you if you access our Site through a mobile device (e.g. your unique device identifier, device’s operating system, mobile carrier, general location, or with your consent, your precise GPS/geo-location).

 

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).  Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

Communicate with you; Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

 

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION:

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above.   We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site. LEGAL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT:
We may provide your information to law enforcement, governmental agencies, or authorized third parties, in good faith in response to a verified request relating to a criminal investigation or alleged illegal activity or any other activity that may expose us, you, or any other PJbooks user to legal liability. In such events, we will only disclose information relevant and necessary to the investigation or inquiry, such as name, city, state, zip code, telephone number, email address, user ID history, IP address, fraud complaints, and anything else we may deem relevant to the investigation.

 

BEHAVIOURAL ADVERTISING:

PJBASSBOOKS does not currently take action to respond to Do Not Track signals because a uniform technological standard has not yet been developed. We continue to review new technologies and may adopt a standard once one is created.

YOUR RIGHTS:

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.  Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

DATA RETENTION:

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

MINORS

The Site is a general audience site and it is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect “personal information” (as defined by the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act or “COPPA”) on our Site.

 

USES AND RETENTION:

Communicate With You:
We use your information to contact you to maintain the Site, your account to comply with your stated communication preferences, to provide other services requested by you, as described at the time when we collect the information from you, to send you marketing communications, or contact you for other purposes authorized by law.

ADDITIONAL PRIVACY INFORMATION FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS: 

(a) If you are a California resident, California law requires us to provide you with some additional information regarding the “personal information” (as defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”))  PJBBASSOOKS collect from and about you, and your rights with respect to your personal information.

(b) How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals for California Residents: California Business & Professions Code Section 22575(b) provides that California residents are entitled to know how PJBASSBOOKS responds to "Do Not Track" browser settings. PJBASSBOOKS does not currently take action to respond to Do Not Track signals because a uniform technological standard has not yet been developed. We continue to review new technologies and may adopt a standard once one is created.

ADDITIONAL PRIVACY INFORMATION FOR NEVADA RESIDENTS:

Under Nevada law, Nevada residents who have purchased goods or services from us may opt-out of the “sale” of “covered information” (as such terms are defined under Nevada law) for monetary consideration to a person for that person to license or sell such information to additional persons. PJBASSBOOKS does not engage in such “sales” of “covered information,” but if it were to do so in the future, a Nevada resident who has purchased goods or services from us would have the right to submit a request to opt-out of future “sales” activity emailing us at pjbassbooks@gmail.com. Please note we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and the authenticity of the request.

Our Site may contain links to other third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these third-party sites and urge you to review their posted privacy policies.

CALIFORNIA PRIVACY NOTICE:

This Privacy Notice for California residents supplements the PJBASSBOOKS Privacy Policy. This Notice applies to website visitors, app users, and customers in California. This Notice gives California residents additional information about our information collection and use practices required by the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”), and also provides California residents with specific privacy rights.

California Information & Deletion Rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA allows you to make certain requests about your personal information. Specifically, the CCPA allows you to request us to:

Inform you about the categories of personal information we collect or disclose about you; the categories of sources of such information, the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal information, and the categories of third parties with whom we share/disclose personal information;

Provide access to and/or a copy of certain personal information we hold about you;

Delete certain personal information we have about you; and

Provide you with information about the financial incentives that we offer to you if any.

Please note that certain information may be exempt from such requests under California law. For example, we need certain information in order to provide the Services to you.

Verification: We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding to a request, which may include, at a minimum, depending on the sensitivity of the information you are requesting and the type of request you are making, verifying your name, e-mail address, and physical address.

You are also permitted to designate an authorized agent to submit certain requests on your behalf. In order for an authorized agent to be verified, you must provide the authorized agent with signed, written permission to make such requests or a power of attorney. We may also follow up with you to verify your identity before processing the authorized agent’s request.

NOTICE OF RIGHT TO OPT-OUT OF SALE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION:

California residents may opt-out of the “sale” of their personal information. Under the CCPA, “sale” is broadly defined to mean the sharing of personal information with third parties who are not acting as our service providers or who are otherwise not restricted from using data only on our behalf or pursuant to an applicable CCPA exception.

Under the CCPA, “sale” may also include allowing third parties to “collect” certain information, such as IP address, and/or browsing behavior, through cookies and similar technologies, to deliver targeted advertising on the Services or other services. Advertising, including targeted advertising, enables us to provide you certain content for free and allows us to provide you offers relevant to you.

If you would like to opt-out of our use of your information for such purposes that are considered a “sale” under California law, you may do so by emailing us at pjbassbooks@gmail.com. Please note that we do not knowingly sell the personal information of minors under 16 years of age without legally required affirmative authorization.

The CCPA further provides you with the right to not be discriminated against (as provided for in applicable law) for exercising your access, deletion, or sale opt-out rights.

CALIFORNIA "SHINE THE LIGHT" DISCLOSURE:

If a company shares “personal information” (as defined in California’s “Shine the Light” law, Civil Code § 1798.83) with third parties for their direct marketing purposes (e.g., to send offers and information that may be of interest to you), California law requires either providing a mechanism by which consumers can obtain more information about such sharing over the prior calendar year, or providing a mechanism by which consumers can opt-out of such sharing. CHANGES:

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. You agree that we may notify you about material changes in the way we treat your information by placing a notice on the Site or taking other steps required or permitted by applicable law. You should check the Site frequently for updates.
